The events of December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor are those that together with many others will forever be written as a historic day not only in history but also in navy and also military history. In this essay I will first explain and describe the attack on Pearl Harbor. I will do so from the perspective of a male veteran who was stationed at Pearl Harbor as a U.S. Navy cadet at the time, describing the events of that topic to a news anchor for a local newspaper. I also explain what happened after the attack and explain if there was any way to prevent it. Next, I will move on to play the role of a TV host and describe the events of September 11, 2001. I will interview a person who survived that terrorist attack and describe whether it could have been prevented in any way. Below I will compare and contrast the two infamous events. Finally, I will explain what Pearl Harbor taught me and the world, which will apply to the present day. Finally I will include images of Pearl Harbor and 9/11 before and after the attacks. Have fun! NEWS ANCHOR: Sir, we will now begin the interview. Can you start by introducing yourself and explaining what exactly happened on December 1st at Pearl Harbor? NAVY VETERAN: My name is Paul Hankins and I am a Navy and World War II military veteran. December 7th is a day I remember vividly. Days like these are the ones you can never forget and too often they keep you up all night reliving the horror you saw. On December 7, 1941, I was stationed at Pearl Harbor on the naval base. It was a placid and sunny morning like any typical day. But the tranquility soon ended. At exactly 7:53 am Japanese planes became visible over Pearl Har...... middle of the paper...... onwards, the United States was very agitated by the surprise attack of 9/11 and Congress did not hesitated to formally declare the war on terrorism and formally go to war with Iraq. Many similarities and differences can be seen in the September 11 attacks with the Pearl Harbor attack. For starters, there are very few differences between the attacks, but the few that there are are that both attacks occurred in different regions of the country. Also, the attack on Pearl Harbor was an attack on the military and 9/11 was an attack on citizens and Pearl Harbor happened in one area while 9/11 happened in a couple of states. However, 9/11 and Pearl Harbor have many similarities with each other. Those similarities included the fact that both terrorist attacks on the United States could have been prevented. Furthermore, both of them killed many people as well as causing war.
