Believe it or not, numerous people around the world support abortion. Abortion, I believe, is another kind of murder, cruelly ending a human being's pregnancy. My question is: how is it ever acceptable to kill someone who hasn't had the chance to live life and reap the benefits it could have? To take this away from someone, even a child, is a violation of human rights. In the following essay, I would like to discuss why I sincerely believe that abortion should not be allowed for any reason. “I didn't know this was happening.” is the most common response from those who hear about China's one-child policy. "A girl is a burden to the family." is a common Hindu saying. In these two particular places in the world, China and India, people do not value girls and often think that killing unborn girls is beneficial to the family. About 1,500 babies are aborted every hour in China. This ridiculous action should be resolved immediately. A large number of people simply think of the one-child policy as China's law to keep the population under control. Yes, it is Chinese policy made to keep the population under control, but not only that, the Chinese government has imposed many unwanted abortions and sterilizations. Forced abortions not only cause depression to parents but also cause social problems in the country as well. There are 38 million more boys than girls. Today, child trafficking also plays a huge role in terms of crime. In addition to government pressure, Chinese people traditionally believe that boys play a more important role in society and therefore many families wish their child to be a boy. This tradition obviously causes abortion when the family discovers that... middle of paper... they are unable to raise a child without financial and physical support from the child's father. Abortion is killing. Selfish people kill their children for their own happiness. There is only one exception. This is one of the most delicate topics still being debated. Rape is sexual intercourse forced on a person. Countless debates argue that abortion should be legal for women who have been raped because the women had no other choice. Furthermore, the raped person would be constantly reminded of the day or moment they were raped and this would cause serious mental problems. They argue that a woman's mental health is more valuable than the fetus, which has not yet developed into a complete baby. On the other hand, other debaters argue that life is life. The child is innocent regardless of what the woman has been through.
