The Role of Women in World War II was an essential behind-the-scenes effort. Just as a cameraman is essential to the making of a film, the role women played in the war was essential to the victory of our allies. During the war women provided food, clothing, funds, medical care, security, knowledge and a safe country to return to at the end of the war effort. All the help provided by women has helped demonstrate that gender equality can work in society and has helped promote women's rights in our country. One of the most important roles for women in World War II was to work in war factories. these were regular factories that had been converted to aid the war effort. For example, instead of producing cars, they would produce tanks, or instead of clothes, the factory would produce uniforms. Before the war began, these factories were generally run by men, but now most men were drafted into the military, leaving tons of available factory jobs open. Women jumped at the opportunity to fill these positions, bring in some extra cash, and support their family, country, and the feminist rights movement. During the war effort Canada ended up producing $11 billion in munitions, 2 million tons of explosives and even uranium for the Manhattan project, none of this work could have been completed without women and without the labor the movement for women's rights would never have had the spark. we had to start. During the war women also helped in the hospital. Usually called nursing sisters, these women earned one hundred and fifty dollars a month. they were the spirit of the hospital, the women took care of the wounded, administered medicines, assisted the doctors and much more in the war hospitals helping and saving thousands of people.
