1) The story is set in Pinedale, Florida. Where an HIV-positive Pinedale High School student named Alejandro Crusan or Alex for short, was attacked while in his car. A witness named Daria Bickell says she was a student from the same school, named Clinton Cole, at the crime scene. At the beginning of the story Clinton is suspected as the person who committed the crime. He finds himself dealing with other people's problems. He is questioned by both the police and his family, about where he was when Alex was attacked. But Clinton can't say where he was because he threw a rock at Crusan's house and hurt his sister's best friend. He also called his father when his mother hated when Clinton would do it. Both Alex and Clinton struggle with problems in their family and others. Alex feels like he is treated differently when he is, but that's not how he wants everyone to treat him, from his family, from Jennifer, and from other people. Clinton is treated like an outcast, his friends don't want to hang out with him anymore, and his little sister treats him like a monster. He begins to realize what he has...
