The Walt Disney company was a major contributor, among other large animation companies, to the American animation industry and culture, as well as to the effort supporting the allies of World War II by providing the government with animated propaganda and Ignisia. Animation played an important role in the advancement of cinema in the 1900s. Before the camera, frame-by-frame photographs were used to understand the movement of animals and humans. Eventually a series of popular cartoons would be created which would lead to the expansion of animation studios in New York and California. One famous animation studio he opened was Walt Disney, who would eventually dominate animation for many years. Disney animation has brought many spectacular films and entertainment to the people of the United States. Disney was dragged into World War II as required by the government for his talented art and propaganda during World War II. But Disney was able to continue to commit to producing more animated films after its war commitment. Walt Disney was a cinematographer who made his career in animation. Walt graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute, where he met Ub Iwerks, a very skilled animator and Walt's partner. Walt's career began while working for the Kansas City Film Ad Company in Missouri in 1920. They would be the founders of the Laugh-O-gram Films studio working to produce several cartoons based on fables and fairy tales. Walt Disney created several pilot shorts for a show called Alice in Cartoonland, a film that combined live action and animation. Alice in Cartoonland, a comedy show about a young girl who enters another universe filled with a variety of cartoons.
