Educational Objectives and Philosophy As a student of pedagogy, I have been able to gather many ideas and opinions on practices and ideals that I want to implement in my future classroom. My philosophies on education are still forming and continually changing with every classroom I visit and every educator I meet. My ideas, admittedly, come from casual experiences and intangible texts, but as I gain more field experience through my courses, my philosophies on teaching will become more clearly defined. These few ideas I have now will certainly be added to as I move into student teaching and my professional career, however they are concepts I hope to never lose sight of. I believe that teaching is a privilege and a serious profession. There are few other careers where you have such a huge effect on other people. The responsibility is great and I take it very seriously. At the same time, teaching can be fun and intellectually stimulating. As a teacher, I will have the opportunity to explore and define a subject area to which I have dedicated my career: science. What better way to demonstrate my enthusiasm for the subject than by teaching it? Furthermore, I know that there is nothing more rewarding than reaching a student through my teaching and having a profound influence on their curiosity. Good teaching should extend beyond the classroom, and will if students are inspired to continue their studies on their own. Honestly, I believe there is no other job as rewarding. Science education often receives an inaccurate stereotype that it is boring or too complex for the average person to understand. I have an extreme passion for science and teaching. ...... middle of paper ...... I want to become certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards after teaching for three years. It's important to me to never stop learning. I want to exude this quality for the well-being of myself and my students. Perhaps through me, students will see that education is not a chore, but a completely rewarding experience. My educational philosophy has been shaped by my life experiences and education, as well as learning about education in college. As I enter the profession, my philosophy will most likely evolve in some way as I grow and gain experiences as a classroom teacher. However, the foundations of my educational philosophy will continue to guide me in how I interact with students and teach in my classroom..
