Showing that people who know Lennie think he's a cuckoo from the start from how he talks, acts, thinks, etc. Which makes people suddenly think he is crazy and stupid from how he is from the beginning acting like a child. “They'll take you to the explosive hatch. They will tie you up with a collar, like a dog.”(Steinback 72) Proving that people don't really understand mental disability and don't know how to act on it other than eliminating it quickly and quickly. Also showing that people don't really care about investigating people with disabilities and immediately putting them in prison or killing them, without giving people a chance to live or have a life. Mental problem could have been a major problem in the story and people didn't care or didn't show any thought to people with problems and ended up being discriminated against
