Topic > Waste Solution: The Causes and Effects of Medical Waste…

A simple solution could be for the public to use the following three Rs; reduce, reuse and recycle. The “convenience period” has driven too many single-use items. Numerous hospitals in the United States, however, have begun reprocessing items that were previously known as single-use goods. Blood pressure cuffs, as well as pulse oximeters, which measure heart rate and blood oxygen levels in patients, are among the items that are sterilized and recovered (Cohn 1). Thanks to revenues from appropriate recycling, medical waste can be reduced to a minimum. There are essentially several items that are unintentionally placed in the medical waste group where, in fact, they do not belong. Products such as bed linen and pillowcases, which are blood-free, can be recycled without being medical waste. This simple action would help reduce the volume of waste transported to incinerators and, in turn, the amount of pollutants released into the environment.
