George Frederick Handel was born on February 23, 1685. Handel showed his aptitude for music as a child. His father wanted so much for him to become a lawyer. To please his father, Handel attended law school but eventually dropped out to join an opera orchestra in Hamburg, Germany. He played in the orchestra as a violinist. In 1707 he began studying opera in Italy. Five years later he returned to Germany but then quickly went to England where he spent the rest of his life. He began composing for King George II. Then he had a stroke and then lost his sight. The same thing happened to Bach too. Handel died on 14 April 1759 and remained unmarried. Franz Joseph Haydn was born on March 31, 1732. Of all these composers, he was the last born. Just like all other composers, Haydn grew up in a very musical family. When he was six years old he was sent to live with his uncle because he was very gifted in music. His uncle's house had truly horrible living conditions so, when Haydn was too old to sing in the boys' choir, he left his uncle's house and moved in with his friend.
