A degree in human biology qualifies a person for a variety of jobs. This degree provides a foundation for pursuing veterinary, dental, or medical school tracks, as well as positions in research and development, laboratory testing, education, manufacturing, and quality control. Human biology provides a broad base to draw on. The profession that interests me the most is physiotherapy. Physiotherapy has interested me ever since I started going to gyms. My first meeting with a trainer at the gym was when I trained for an hour for a baseball field to protect my rotator cuff, that was the moment I realized I wouldn't mind having a job similar to the one the coach had. I wanted a job where I could help people recover; a physiotherapist. Physical therapists are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to older adults, who have health problems or other health conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Physical therapists begin by examining each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote range of motion, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. Additionally, physical therapists or physiotherapists will work with people to prevent mobility loss before it occurs, developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for healthier, more active lifestyles. Training for physical therapists can last 6-7 years or less if you attend summer courses. For a professional entry level, physiotherapists can obtain one of three degrees; Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Master of Physical Therapy (MPT), or a Masters... at the heart of the paper... the health and safety of their patients. Physiotherapists must work closely with patients and physiotherapy staff who may sometimes have conflicts or where their patients may be angry or rude. Their working relationship is also somehow responsible for their work results. Additionally, physical therapists must also communicate with colleagues and patients on a daily basis by phone or in person. Physiotherapists must also ensure that their work is exact otherwise errors may occur which could cause harm to patients. Physiotherapists must make independent decisions on a daily basis that have a strong impact on patients. They may consult other PTs for some decisions, but most make them without speaking to a supervisor. In a way, you are your own supervisor and I like this perk of the job. Physiotherapists also have to structure their day around patient appointments, which I could see being annoying at times, but it is necessary.
