There is no denying that one of the main justifications why gay marriage is currently illegal is due to the religious understanding that homosexual individuals are sinners. The reason is that, when an individual violates the natural ethical order established by God, that person sins and insults God. An individual who professes to follow God's teachings must oppose same-sex marriage because it is considered unethical and immoral. Furthermore, gay marriage will consequently encroach on our right to freely exercise our religious freedoms. A pastor should not be forced to marry a same-sex couple or a church should not be forced to host a gay wedding. Legalizing same-sex marriage would be imposing our First Amendment rights
