by Jonathan Kozol Edmundson was considered one of the "interesting" teachers due to the fact that he told jokes to keep students interested, as that was the only way he thought it worked; however, he did not “teach how to entertain…or, for that matter, how to be simply interesting” (Edmundson, Greene-Lidinsky 390). University students can choose their professors and should have the opportunity to find out if the professor is to their liking, otherwise they can simply drop the course and/or find a more suitable professor. Edmundson felt that “student passion seemed exhausted” and that “college culture” was becoming increasingly “dedicated to consumption and entertainment” (Edmundson, Greene-Lidinsky 391). Additionally, universities make matters even worse because they beautify campuses to entice students to apply, so students attend those campuses imagining that classes will be just as nice.
