Mosquito FestI felt a little tickle on my arm. It turned into a tingle. I looked at my vulnerable white arm and found a small black-striped mosquito harassing my clean flesh to find the perfect spot to strike. At the speed of light he was already injecting my skin and when I looked, he had conquered my blood. Mosquitoes, mosquitoes, mosquitoes! Aaaahhhh! They can drive anyone crazy. Walking between hammocks, not even insect repellent will save you. I just don't understand. I am sacrificing my skin by wearing insect repellent with deet (which dissolves plastic) and these salt water monsters still managed and dared to pinch me and penetrate through my skin, sucking my blood. One of my classmates told me a secret about mosquitoes. He said that if I pulled on my skin, stretching it in opposite ways while a mosquito bit me, its stinger would get caught in the skin and explode. I wondered how the hell that was possible until he taught me that the mosquito kept drawing blood trying to get out. I trusted that she was right because she works with the Everglades and she did it herself. I was so amazed by this information that I couldn't wait to break out one of those little annoyances myself. It's strange because I never kill bugs. I don't have the courage. I believe that just like human beings they have their own life and have the right to live. I don't even kill flies. I guess it's because they don't bite me or bother me physically. Every now and then I find a lizard wandering around my house. When I find myself in a situation like this, I open the nearest window or door and push her or push her out with a broom. Small lizards that I actually catch with my bare hands. Also, I'm happy that they eat flies and lizards. I don't advocate or use bug spray (I think it's completely cruel). So, back to the mosquitoes: crossing Bid Cypress Swamp, Lynette and I were trying to get bitten by mosquitoes so we could pop them. We weren't lucky though. For me, I couldn't stand the fact that I would be left with a red pimple, not to mention that it would really bother me, itching like crazy for a couple of days.
