NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA is a United States government agency responsible for airspace-related science and technology. The Space Age began in 1957 with the launch of the Soviet satellite Sputnik, and NASA was created in 1958. NASA was created to oversee U.S. space exploration and aeronautical research. NASA's purpose today is to reach new heights and reveal the unknown so that what we do and learn benefits all of humanity. NASA mainly sends astronauts into orbit to conduct scientific research, and many other things help today's scientists understand space better. Satellites help scientists learn more about Earth, and rhythm probes study the solar system and beyond. Today, NASA is working on a program to send humans to Mars and far beyond. Some of the NASA facilities are Facility IV and V, Michoud Assembly Facility, Wallops Flight Facility, and White Sands Test Facility. President Dwight D.
