Ornament is one of the oldest forms of decorative art. Its history dates back thousands of years. Translated from the Latin ornamentum means “ornament, adornment, embellishment” (“Ornament”). However, in his childhood, ornaments have a deeper meaning. Art critics are trying to decipher ancient images and understand the hidden meaning of signs and symbols. So far it is believed that the key to understanding many of them has long been lost and, nevertheless, interest in ancient art continues to be uninterrupted. Many ornamental motifs passed from generation to generation and have remained almost unchanged for centuries. In ancient times people believed that iconic images helped them communicate with the other world of gods and spirits and fulfill the role of mediator between worlds. Often ornamental images were “the impulse to adorn arises from a deeply rooted sensitivity to mark every occasion in life with auspicious symbols, designs and figures to obtain good fortune and protection from evil” (“The Ideal of Ornament” ). Each nation created its own unique decorative style. Originality and national color can accurately determine its belonging to any group. In the East, the art of ornamentation was more widely developed, and this is mainly due to ancient traditions. In the second half of 1000 BC, the nomadic tribes of Kazakhstan had the Scythian style of ornamentation. According to Wikipedia, it was “often the central ornament of shields carried by fighters. In the most notable of these figures, deer are depicted with their legs tucked under their bodies, their heads erect and their muscles tense to give the impression of speed” (“Scythian Art”). These figures of fighters meant the victory of the sun... in the center of the sheet... the catkin is important: they should rotate in a certain order. The indiscriminate distribution of colors even in the original ornament can make it gray and inexpressive. “The white background on the goods or on the main figure of the ornament is a symbol of the white path of truth and happiness. The red color is fire, the fiery power of the sun and love, the black color is power, majesty and well-being” (Turganbayeva). Blue has always been a symbol of heaven, yellow is a symbol of wisdom or sorrow, and green is a symbol of youth and spring. Over the centuries, the ideas of the ancient art have been carefully preserved and passed down from teacher to student. In this way it became a tradition and the ornaments have survived to this day. A wide variety of decorative styles and motifs were developed for architecture and applied arts, including ceramics, furniture, metalwork (Art).
