What is Steers and what does it specialize in? Steers is a quick service, burger brand, and the reason behind the Famous Brands Group. Steers was the first restaurant group owned by Famous Brands, making it the oldest member of Famous Brands. Steers specializes in flame grilled burgers and has been voted Joburg's best burger for the past 18 years and best fries for the past 14 years at the Best Of Joburg Awards for leisure options. The Steers burger range is dominated by 100% pure beef burgers. The food is freshly prepared in each restaurant. Steers supplies key burger ingredients, including buns, patties and sauces to all of its franchises through Famous Brand Services and approved suppliers. Steers has 505 restaurants located in South Africa and 45 stores in other African countries such as Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Namibia and Nigeria. Steers recently expanded into the UK and is currently expanding into North African and Middle Eastern countries such as Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Morocco, Iran and Egypt. Vision and Mission Statement Steers' vision is to create and offer customers the "perfect burger". To do this, Steers has maintained its unique flavor and sales proposition. As a result, Steers has won numerous awards, including best burgers for the past 18 years and best fries for the past 14 years. Forms of ownership • Famous Brands Limited is a public limited company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. A public company is a company with one or an unlimited number of shareholders and this determines the amount of shares available to be bought and sold. • Famous Brands Limited is the “parent” company of many franchises, which means…halfway paper……garnish on top of patties rather than underneath to prevent takeaway burger buns from becoming soggy.• Steers has adapted over the years with their theme ranging from 1960s cowboys; bright orange in the 80s and more recently back to basics focusing on burgers. They also adapted their logo with the changes they made, resulting in 4 logos over the years. • Steers franchisees and staff undergo a month-long training program to learn everything there is to know about the brand to ensure customers receive only the best service. Newer Steer stores are built so customers can see the kitchen where their food is prepared. This creates transparency and interaction with staff and allows customers a look behind the scenes• The first Steers in the UK opened on 6 July 2013• There are steers located at 29 of the 31 Shell Ultra City sites in South Africa.
