THE GIVERPlot Summary The story is about a boy named Jonas. Jonas lives in a community where everything is perfect, everything is the same and no one is allowed to break the rules imposed by the Elders. The Elders are in charge of creating all the rules and essentially govern everyone's lives. Jonas lives with his parents and a sister. His parents could only have two children, a boy and a girl. It was one of many community rules that could not be broken. Every year the community comes together to celebrate the children's birthdays. They call it the party of two, three, four, etc. up to the age of 11. At every age, children must carry out the chore that has been chosen for them. Additionally, they must attend school and volunteer until the age of 12. When they turn 12, there is a special event. It is called the Ceremony of the Twelve.
