Before we discussed our life plans with each other, most of us had a medium individual preference for living together. As we discussed this further, we realized that the co-op would get in the way and everyone would be split up and each person had different ideas about how far from campus they wanted to live and how much they were willing to pay. After our group had a discussion, a change in choice occurred as the group's average preference was to no longer live together, different from the original average individual preference. Our group framed the situation negatively, thus taking more risks and dividing ourselves. In other words, we considered our losses based on how great the distance was and how much each person was willing to pay not to live together, thus running the risk of splitting up. The more we talked about our plans for next year and what each of us wanted, the more polarized our group became and the more our feelings about the separation
