Topic > The Taliban Regime in Afghanistan: Malala's Story...

Stories were told, we just weren't sure they were true. Word spread about how the Taliban treated people, but time passed and nothing changed. When the world fell silent, Malala Yousafzai, with all her courage and strength, spoke. He suffered for it, but he doesn't regret it. Every word he says is expressed with concern. He knows that even his small voice can and has changed the world. Malala Yousafzai is a young activist from Swat Valley, Pakistan. In my opinion he is one of the most influential people alive and that is why I will talk about his struggle, his successes and what he wants and will try to change until the day he dies. First I'll talk about Malala. I'll talk about the main group that doesn't want Malala to speak out and the rules they have enforced in many cities in northwestern Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Taliban are an Islamic political movement present in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Mullah Mohammed Omar has been the leader of the Taliban since 1994. They formed a government called the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. This government is known diplomatically only in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The Taliban strictly enforce Islamic law and are known for their brutal treatment of women. Some Taliban laws stipulate that men must grow beards and trim moustaches, Muslim families cannot listen to music, and all non-Muslims must dress in yellow or wear yellow clothing. The laws the Taliban have against women say they must wear a burka, cannot receive an education, must always travel with a male relative and cannot work. The Taliban also destroys many schools… center of paper… “The Most Influential People in the World” and was awarded the Harvard Foundation Peter Gomes Humanitarian Prize by Harvard University. After writing this essay and reading Malala's book, I truly believe she deserves every one of these awards and more. Malala is just one of millions of children who suffer and want to change the world for the better, except when everyone else was afraid to speak out, she did. It's almost impossible to say in one sentence how it changed the world, but I'll try. She has been an unknown heroine for years and finally she is known all over the world, finally the right to education is an everyday topic, finally the world is no longer silent about how the Taliban treat women and finally we can hear her voice, loud and clear, telling us how and what we should do to have a better future and that's how I think Malala Yousafzai changed the world.
