An overarching theme in Forrest Gump is destiny. We see it everywhere; in Jenny, in Lieutenant Dan, in the feather, in the box of chocolates, even in Forrest himself. The film tells the story of Forrest's life. The good and the bad, the people he meets, the things he accomplishes, and the difficulties he faces are all part of a plan. Fate can be quite funny. Forrest started out with bad legs, no friends, and no education, but over the course of the film he makes many friends, saves lives, becomes very rich, and marries the girl of his dreams. He met Bubba in the Army and promised him they would start a shrimp business together. Forrest saved Lieutenant Dan's life and they ended up becoming very successful business partners. They gave a lot of the money they earned to Bubba's family so they wouldn't have to work to barely survive their entire lives. Forrest also gave Elvis ideas for dance moves and sparked inspiration for his famous bumper stickers and smiley-face T-shirts. Although Jenny comes and goes throughout the film, they eventually get married and have a child together. Jenny is a good example of destiny because... middle of paper... Forrest's life is a box of chocolates because he experiences many things in his life, so different from each other, similar to the chocolates found inside a box of chocolates. chocolates.” Els Malcolm, Charlotte MacDonald and Michaela Eaton-Kent said on their website explaining and comparing the film and the original novel.
