This, however, can be refuted by 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 which says, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you. If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, and you are that temple” (The English Standard Version Bible). One's body belongs to God, because it is His temple. Therefore disrespecting him, with murder or suicide, means disrespecting God. Allowing the patient to have the possible option of euthanasia means saying that one's way is better than God's and denying the rights over one's life (“Euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide”). Likewise, Proverbs 5:3 says that all suffering has a purpose: “More than this, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance” (The English Standard Version Bible). Although suffering can be a great pain, one must realize that the pain Jesus felt was much greater. Furthermore, how can we not know that suffering is just another test proposed to test the sick?
