Topic > Identity: Every Person is a Story - 1062

Identity is the concept of knowing oneself by following a lineage and other factors that make a person (Korfmacher, 25). In most cases of identification, the individual is assumed to follow his or her background and affiliate with a group. In this case, a group can be family, tribe, nation, culture and many others. As already mentioned, for many people it is easy to identify with a group, but for many people this is not the case. Some individuals have struggled with what is commonly known as an identity crisis. There are many factors that have led to such unusual cases, and the cases are unfamiliar because everyone is expected to affiliate with one group. The fundamental group with which a person can identify is the family, which gives the individual an idea of full identity. The family will help the individual learn about the culture and other identity groups. This concept is reinforced by the saying “Every person is a story”, which connects the person to the group. In an effort to show identification, this article will touch on many aspects of family and give an account of my family history. This narrative will also bring to light many issues that touch on identity. As already mentioned in the introduction, family plays a crucial role in an individual's identity. The composition of a family defines the type of family to which one belongs (Cootnz, 15). For example, the nuclear family, which is the basic unit of the family, consists of father, mother and children. There is also the extended family which constitutes the extension of the father and mother. Members include maternal and paternal families, which include the brothers and sisters of both the father and mother. It also includes parents-in-law and children if they are married. Again, there is the tertiary… middle of the paper… to guide an individual in identifying their background, culture can play a crucial role in these cases. Identity is the revelation of the totality of the individual. . Identity crisis is something that many individuals struggle with and overcoming it is a daunting task for many. Therefore, family and culture paired with their spices will help an individual overcome some of these problems. The integrity of identity contains the inner and outer aspect of an individual, and its crisis leads to both physical and emotional suffering. This is why identity crisis has resulted in cases of suicide and even mental problems. Again, it is important for an individual to fully gain their identity because the world has witnessed recurring wars arising from identity issues. It is therefore very important that everyone at least associates with the group or acquires a complete identity.
