Domain 3 focuses on my ability to teach. This year I'm not as clear as I should be. My expectations are clearly stated and represented, but not my directions. For example, in 3rd grade, I typically guided my students through a lesson by stating my expectations, explaining directions, and putting them on the board. However, this year I didn't. I spend too much time with the three new science teachers. Also, this year my students are smaller than in previous years. So, even though my directions are clear, modeled, and guided, too many students don't understand the expectations. I will have to work harder on writing the directions on the board, I hope this helps more students meet the expectations of all the lessons. I could have marked myself as distinguished for 3b, the questioning and discussion techniques component; however, that grade would only be true for less than half of my students.
