Topic > There is a certain objectivity in journalism and in the public...

First of all I would like to look at the work of a journalist, I firmly believe that the main skill that a journalist should have is the ability to obtain news or information and pass it on to people without changing it. By being honest, telling the truth and having reliable sources, a journalist manages to earn respect and esteem. To be a good professional, a journalist must work on many levels. It is very important to do research, take photos or videos and be sure of the authenticity of the story. So the story should be written objectively before being published in newspapers, magazines, websites, radio or TV. People should be properly informed. If the information or facts are presented as they are, this authenticity will separate the good journalist from others. On the other hand we have public relations professionals who interact with people like journalists do, but with a completely different approach. The goal of a public relations professional is to present the facts but not necessarily tell the truth. Unfortunately, information is altered and people are deceived into believing what is convenient and suited to the plans of the public relations professional who will naturally try to present the client (a person, a company, a political party) in a favorable way. so that it can be an increase in advertising and therefore to the benefit of the customer. Additionally, a public relations professional will do research like a journalist would, in order to gather information, but that's where the similarities end. A public relations professional will use all positive information, giving emphasis to it to support a perfect image of the client. Any negative information will not be mentioned... middle of paper... so use reality as it is because people are not stupid. If a person understands that what he has read or heard is false he will not take it seriously. To conclude, I believe that nowadays there is no objectivity either in journalists or in public relations professionals. Once there are interests, hierarchy and salary behind these two professions, everything is subjective. I also want to remind you that journalists are “slaves” because they work with people from politics or high society who are people who pull the strings as they want. Furthermore, public relations professionals are also subjective because their goal is to attract people in any way to satisfy the customer. As Kousoulis said (Penelope 2013): “In fact there is the objective catalytic subjective gaze, that is, the gaze of the subject” so there is no objectivity anywhere.
