Topic > Racism in 'Wingshooters' by Nina Revoyr - 998

It has always been a hardship for Michelle (Revoyr 34) to go to school every day due to the bullying displayed by her classmate, Jeannie Allen. Jeannie has this callous behavior because her parents never disciplined her not to do it. Revoyr said that at one point Jeannie's parents witnessed how their daughter was terrorizing Michelle and refused to intervene to stop it. Both Mr. and Mrs. Allen are not very accepting of mixed races or people of color, which is why they didn't intervene and make their daughter believe that the pain she was inflicting was acceptable. Until a child is told that what he is doing is wrong and is then punished for it, he will continue the task thinking that it is.
