IndexPart One – Newspaper NamesPart Two – Compare and ContrastPart Three – Implementing the TheoryPart One – Newspaper Names As for national and international newspapers, I have been able to find articles related to the recent tornado in Louisiana. For the national newspaper, the article was titled “Louisiana Hammered by Tornadoes” (McGILL, 2017). For the international newspaper their article was titled “Severe damage after tornadoes hit Louisiana” (BBC News, 2017). I used US News for the national newspaper and BBC for the international newspaper. The purpose of this article is to inform the public, both in the United States and around the world, about the natural disaster that has struck Louisiana. Tornadoes and storms were prevalent in the state and resulted in home losses, injuries, power outages and other types of damage for many people. These articles were written to spread the word about this event among other things happening in the world today. Say no to plagiarism. Get an Original EssayPart Two: Compare and Contrast Starting with the national newspaper, I found that the article itself was longer than the BBC post. The US News article provided a mix of stories from those affected by the tornado and stated some general facts/news about what happened. Statements and descriptive language helped describe some of the images that occurred during the disaster. The article began with an image of a woman holding her face and did not include images throughout the article, but instead contained a gallery of 28 photos that contained unrelated images such as the inauguration, shots of the Oval Office, a wax figure of Trump, and other images that were unrelated to the issue at hand. Moving on to the international newspaper, I heard that the BBC had a shorter article. Instead of multiple sentences, it contained only one or two sentences naming some of the people affected and general information such as numbers, statistics and details of each tornado. Although this article was shorter, it included more photos of the event and a video showing the rubble of the affected homes. The descriptions of the event were similar to each other, but in terms of how they were delivered, I would say the BBC one was easier to read than the US News article. The US News article provided more details but didn't have many related images, while the BBC article did. Both articles provide concrete evidence of what happened, as well as personal stories/quotes from those affected. I feel that the BBC has provided more images than US News as they don't just pander to one area, but those from around the world. So, having real pictures of the damage itself can let readers know what it looks like since it may not have been covered in their local news. Overall, I find myself preferring the BBC article for its simplicity and imagery. Having these two qualities in an age where quick information is as important as the images that accompany it, creates an easily accessible article that anyone can understand and reach for. Part Three – Theory Implementation As I looked through the list of theories, I found that it was difficult to choose two that applied to this analysis. I believe that the medium theory and the social responsibility theory would be the two best theories since I can apply them to my findings. I found the medium theory crucial to my analysis of newspapers as the medium, which is a newspaper article, appears to be one used everywhere globally. Newspaper articles can –.
