Topic > What is a genetically modified organism - 711

A genetically modified organism is an organism whose genetic material has been modified by working with genetic engineering methods. Organisms that have been genetically modified can be microorganisms such as bacteria and yeast, insects, plants, fish and mammals. Because living organisms have real restrictions to protect themselves from exposure to DNA from a non-similar species, genetic engineers must find new methods to transform one organism's DNA into a different organism. One way to genetically modify organisms is to use viruses or bacteria to "infect" animal or plant cells with the different DNA. Another way to modify it is to insert DNA into very small metal balls and inject it into cells with a unique gun. You can also modify by injecting the different DNA into the fertilized eggs with a very clean needle. Finally, it is possible to modify organisms by using electric shocks to form holes in the membrane that blocks the sperm, and then forcing different DNA into the sperm through these holes. One of the main GMO foods is corn. Corn accounts for the majority of US crops. In most countries corn is known as corn. Corn is a large grain plant that is modified by specially trained people. Corn is grown in ears. As it grows in the ears it is spun into the grains. Soy is the most genetically modified food in the country. The largest US producer of hybrid seeds for agriculture, Pioneer Hi-Bred International, created a genetically modified soybean and it was approved in 2010. It is modified to have a very high level of oleic acid, which is already found in olive oil. Oleic acid is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid that can lower LDL cholesterol when used to replace other fats. One advantage of gro......middle of the paper......to what they can't eat is in the food, they wouldn't buy the item, so they would lose money by putting the label on it. This is a selfish act because it could put people's health at risk. I think GMO foods are just sold to make money and they don't care what happens to the people who eat them. I think the most intense discussion is whether or not they can put labels on their foods because, going label-free will make the company lose the most money and money is the most important thing to the company. If the company put labels on foods, consumers would not be happy because they would realize what is in GMO foods that can harm them. If labels were on food, customers would definitely buy less of that food, so they would not be harmed. If GMO foods were labeled, I would try my best to stay away from unhealthy foods so as not to harm my health.
