Topic > Risks and Limitations of Genetic Testing - 1021

People may have different reasons for undergoing genetic testing. For some people it may be important to know whether they will be diagnosed with a disease in the future or not, others may want to know whether the disease can be prevented or cured. Genetic testing is a type of medical test that can identify changes in chromosomes, genes, or proteins. The result of this test can indicate the likelihood of a person developing a genetic disease. In some cases the cause of the disease may be unknown to the doctor. Genetic testing will also help them determine the cause of the disease and the possible cure. There are several techniques used on adults for genetic testing. The most common technique is blood sampling which is mainly used in adults as a source of DNA. Blood samples are the most common method for genetic testing. Genesis will place the patient in a select group where all the people in that group have had their genomes read via chemical letters. To start this process a nurse will first draw the patient's blood and the sample will be sent to the Illumina company. They will process the blood and extract its genetic material. Proteins and fats are washed away and fibers clump together. The purpose of this process is to access the person's DNA, those fibers are DNA. The DNA will be split into fragments to obtain its sequence. DNA contains chemicals known by the first letters, ATC and G. The mutation or damaged genome traces the type of disease the person has. After sequencing the decoded genome, researchers must figure out what it means, comparing the patient's genome to thousands of others, mostly based on the reference genome. If the genome is different, it could mean the change is unique to the patient. More technology...... half of the paper......and. It can help us take control of our future. Relief from a negative test result could eliminate any need for regular checkups, especially for people with a family history of cancer. The positive test result can point a person towards possible treatments, monitoring or even prevention. There are some diseases that doctors don't know what it is or the treatment for, doctors turn to genetics to find the cause, cure it and save the patient's life. Genetic home reference.
