Topic > Literate and illiterate world in our society - 837

In America, we are divided into two different worlds, which means there are two lifestyles in our society. One way of life is one in which America is most focused on the literate world. This lifestyle believes it is important to understand and read things thoroughly to understand life. This part of America knows what is right and what is wrong for our society. They firmly believe that education is an important factor in life. In contrast, the other American way of life is the belief system not based on reality. These people believe that we don't have to understand and read everything, that it's okay to simply look at pictures and get clues about what's happening in life. People who live this lifestyle are unable to determine what is right or wrong. They are calmer about certain situations that happen in our society rather than facing the reality of it. Many people in our society have high school diplomas but are not fully capable of using them wisely. Many of the people who have a high school diploma cannot read even at a fifth grade level. Our country awards diplomas to people who have not met or reached adult-level reading standards. Every year it gets worse, people are unable to use the knowledge they should learn in high school. After graduation, many people do not advance their knowledge beyond what they were able to learn in high school. Many illiterate people vote in political campaigns without really understanding why. They vote based on what they hear and see through advertising. Most illiterates do not read to find out who to vote for. Today in our society political campaigning is not based on who is right or who is wrong... middle of paper... now. Our world is almost coming to an end and people still don't realize it. Many others have lost their homes, cars and lost their jobs. Our economy is getting worse and worse. People are forced to file for bankruptcy and living in the United States is becoming increasingly difficult. People who try to entertain and get our attention cannot help us solve these types of problems. They can't solve why people lose their jobs. It's important to know who you're voting for and why you're voting for them. Our society needs to stop focusing on how the political candidate can get their attention or entertain them. They must understand historical facts and separate truth from lies. We need a change in our society because it is getting worse. Obama spends a lot of money to entertain and attract us, but makes no changes to improve our country.
