Some people may be worried that technology is leading the world towards a great disaster. Instead of helping them one way or another, technology has affected them negatively. Computer vision syndrome is an example that illustrates how technology affects people's bodies. The American Optometric Association defines computer vision syndrome as a group of eye and vision problems that result from prolonged computer use. Many people experience eye discomfort and vision problems when looking at a computer screen for long periods (2014). While many people are concerned about technology and how it affects their body. Physiologically, there is a real phenomenon that causes people to suffer from computer anxiety (Moldafsky & Kown, 1994). There is a study conducted by Brosnan and Davidson, which shows that one third of the entire population suffers from Technophobia (1994). Jay states that technophobia is a resistance to talking about computers or even thinking about them. Furthermore, technophobia is a hostile or aggressive thought towards computers (1981). Moving on to social life, it has been influenced by technology and the emergence of the Internet. It has been found that the more time people spend using the Internet; the more they lose contact with their social environment. The more hours people use the Internet; they spend less time with real humans (Nie & Erbring, 2005). It is true that technology has negatively affected people in some circumstances; however, its advantages are more than its disadvantages. Physically, computer vision syndrome can be avoided with proper sitting posture, good viewing distance, and soft computer screen lighting (Computer Vision Syndrome, 2014).
