The project I decided to undertake was "The Good, the Bad and the Scouse". This is operated by Toxteth TV. The project tells the story of characters who graced the streets of Liverpool, mainly in the Toxteth area. I have done extensive research into telling local 'scouser' stories that have remained untold since the 1850s. 'The Good, The Bad and The Scouse' is a project which will bring to life some of Liverpool's secret unsung heroes and villains from the past in period 1850-1900. The reason these particular dates were chosen is because I hope the stories I told shed light on the social, cultural and political climate of that time. Over the last few weeks I have been working as an archival researcher and have had a primary role in this project carrying out the research that will support all subsequent activities of the project. I have revealed some of Toxteth's hidden legacy and brought it to life in creative and interactive ways, such as by using the British Newspaper Archive database at Liverpool Central Library. The reason I used the online archives of British newspapers is very relevant to the period I explored as in 1850 newspapers were very popular and this can be recognized as stamp duty on newspapers which was eliminated in 1855. As newspapers were rapidly expanding in this period, using them as a research method was fundamental for this project. The twenty-five most interesting stories will be voted by the public and eight of the most popular stories will subsequently be turned into animations. I worked closely with Toxteth TV from March until mid-April to help uncover the stories of Toxteth's many colorful characters. For the past... middle of the paper... in the mere future do you think of us and the way we have lived? Will they judge our society to be just and fair or will they think that our beliefs and social structures were wrong? The final results of the project will include: Educational resources A cultural journey Eight of the best stories from Toxteth's past will be turned into animations accessible online and on DVDMy overall experience working on 'The Good, The bad and The Scouse' has proven to demonstrate that the borough of Toxteth has a colorful past with many of its residents coming from all different walks of life. From benefactors to criminals, to your charitable souls. All this graced the streets of Toxteth more than a century and a half ago. Without the historical newspaper archive we would not know what kind of people lived in the neighborhood and their stories would have been lost forever.
