Head to Head: A World of Computers The world has come a long way with the development of technology. Day by day, people using and relying on technology have increased significantly. But of all these new technologies, the computer is probably one of the most important, if not the most important. And from the beginning two operating systems have been competing with each other. These two companies are Apple with their Mac and Microsoft with their Windows PC. While both Apple and Microsoft have created fantastic machines, they differ in price, design, operating system, and popularity. There is no doubt that when we talk about computers the word price always comes up. It is well known that Macs are not the cheapest computers on the market, starting at around $900 US dollars. This can be associated with the production of Apple products and software which eliminates the advantage of purchasing cheaper parts from other manufacturers, but also gives Apple the ability to make the highest quality products and provide the best possible performance. On the other hand, Microsoft PCs, even if built by different companies such as: HP, Samsung, Sony, Lenovo, Dell, etc., have always been cheaper. PC offers different prices on computers based on the brand and the part inside it. Both Mac and PC can be upgraded with higher quality components but at the same time this increases the price. When it comes to Macs and PCs, price isn't the only thing that varies. When people decide to buy a computer, its design plays a huge factor in the decision. The PC has always had a box-like design structure tied to it. Although they are…middle of the road…in educational, journalistic, and creative development, the PC has been very popular in the business world and the PC gaming community. As mentioned before, the Windows operating system has been around for many years and is widespread throughout the world, which means it is accessible almost everywhere, which makes it great for businesses. Furthermore, the PC is generally cheaper than the Mac, and for a company that will purchase several hundred or perhaps even thousands of them it is much cheaper to run them all on the Microsoft operating system. Another factor contributing to the PC's popularity is its vast library of available and PC-optimized games. Compared to the Mac, the PC has a larger selection of games and can be upgraded for the best possible gaming experience. And as the gaming community has grown over the past couple of years, the PC has gained many potential buyers.
