“One day recently, Cynthia Newton's 12-year-old daughter asked her for help with her homework, but Newton wouldn't help her because she was too busy on Facebook. So her daughter went upstairs to her room and sent her an email asking for help, but Newton didn't see the email because, well, she was too busy on Facebook. This unusual action, by one of this nation's typical mothers, is excerpted from an article entitled "Five clues... Facebook" by CNN. As the social network system has become entrenched in our society, people have become very different than in the past. As soon as Facebook appeared in the world, people were fascinated by it and it became the most massive and powerful social network connecting the entire world. Since the birth of Facebook, the majority of people have become as dependent on it [D1] as Newton did; so, what attracts people to Facebook? What drives them to click the “News Feed” button every five minutes? I would like to ask a broader question: why are people fascinated and addicted to social media, and what is its role and impact on us? 1,924,913,929 is the number of views on Youtube of the music video “Gangnam Style” by Psy, whose song was spread all over the world in just a few clicks. When I saw this unrealistic number of views [D2], I was amazed not by Psy's popularity but by the power of social media that can connect two billion people in a single music video. The main reason why Psy could earn the title of “The Most Viewed Youtube Video in History” and could become a global star in just a couple of months is the social media, Youtube[D3] . As the Psy phenomenon demonstrates, social media has been central to our lives and is...... at the center of the paper...... those menu images that other people have posted before. I'm no longer afraid of entering a new restaurant. In fact, it is now impossible for us to separate ourselves from social media as it plays a necessary role in our generation. We must remember that it is not social media's fault that it is sometimes abused, but it is our fault. We shouldn't create a generation where a mom is too busy chatting with friends on Facebook and can't help her daughter with her homework, or a mom spends all day stalking her ex-girlfriend. [D23] He's too unhappy. Yet we shouldn't just throw away social media from here because Facebook and Youtube give us so many moments of joy for myself and others. We should always be aware and cautious about how we use social media and balance it well. That's all. Now let me update my home page. [D24]
