Amphetamines are generally used to provide the same effect as pure adrenaline. The drug is specifically for people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy, although if you decide to abuse the drug and use it recreationally you may start to experience paranoia and nervousness. Amphetamine use can also put a strain on the circulatory system by causing a sudden increase in the user's blood pressure. (Amphetamine) The long-term psychological effects of the drug can cause something called amphetamine psychosis which is very similar to paranoid schizophrenia. This could lead to hallucinations, paranoid delusions and obsessions. (Amphetamine) Examples of amphetamines include adderall, benzihydrine, and dexedrine. Students often abuse Adderall prescriptions as a study tool. I knew students at my previous school in Miami who took Adderall during every exam when they weren't even prescribed it, which is a perfect example of amphetamine abuse. I have also heard of students becoming addicted to such drugs. Another dangerous substance is anabolic steroids. People use anabolic steroids as an illegal way to increase testosterone in their body and increase muscle mass. Whenever someone uses anabolic steroids it is considered abuse because the use of anabolic steroids is never recommended by any official. Side effects of the drug can cause paranoid jealousy, extreme irritability, delusions, and impaired judgment from a large ego.
