Topic > Acting: the art of becoming all the characters in one body

According to “The Art of the Actor: The Essential History of Acting, from Classical Times to the Present Day” by Jean Benedetti, “Acting is a way to show our understanding of the world and its transmission to others” (1). That statement turned out to be true if you take history into consideration. One of the oldest art forms and careers in history, acting has established itself as one of the most important yet volatile careers of all time. Its vast history gives anyone who dares to become an actor a great understanding of different societies throughout the years and a deep meaning of why, despite all adversity, it is still one of the most sought after careers. More than a simple job, and unlike many work fields, acting is passion and the ability to convey reality into fantasy. But why act? Because it is a career related to every other that exists; and being successful takes more than you might think. Dating back to the ancient Greek theater of the 6th century BC, acting has evolved greatly and become more than the plays performed in the Roman period. As it continues to evolve to this day, it is important to look at history to understand the current era of the acting career. For Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, acting is “the right management of the voice to express various emotions”, considered a talent rather than a skill to be taught. While growing up in Greece, the field of acting was underpinned by a lack of subtlety and a wide variety of enormous costumes; all performed in open-air theaters with books, the written version of the work, written by Euripides and Sophocles. Despite the expansion in Greek theaters, acting as an art began to decline during... middle of paper... er, there are those who "make it big" and earn more than the average worker, but when When you decide to undertake a career in acting, you must understand the difficulties and risks involved in such a pursuit and be prepared to face them. Fame and money should not be the first priority. Instead, anyone who aspires to become an actor should have a genuine love to become what no one had thought of before; creating a character so emotionally intense that he will be remembered for years to come by those who had been in contact with him. An actor should love spending hours creating and studying his or her character, his or her story and background, and even more hours rehearsing lines and stage positioning, as well as camera and lighting placement. It is the only career that allows you to become everyone else and can be extremely rewarding if undertaken seriously and, above all, with passion..
