There are two types of methods in research: quantitative and qualitative and they can be combined. Quantitative research is very concise and based on statistical data and can show where the problem and outcome originated. Quantitative research is considered a hard science that examines measurable aspects of human experience (Blais & Hayes, 2016). A controlled study can be considered quantitative research. Qualitative research is based on perspectives. It may vary from nurse to nurse. It is more descriptive than quantitative research. This is more biased data and does not show where the problem originates or the conclusion of a specific study. According to Blais and Hayes (2016) qualitative research “allows exploration of the subjective experiences of humans and can provide nursing with a better understanding of phenomena from the client's perspective” (p.197). This type of research is not as accurate and can have different answers while quantitative research is more exact and shows relationships
