If you can't be open with your colleagues, friends and loved ones, then what is life about? In Can You Keep a Secret?, written by Sophie Kinsella, readers have the chance to read from the point of view of a young woman who wants to change her life and is haunted by this question. It is a romantic and humor-filled novel aimed primarily at teenagers and young adults. The popular novel was written by Sophie Kinsella, a British-born former financial journalist and author of the New York Times bestselling books Confessions of a Shopaholic, Shopaholic Takes Manhattan and Shopaholic Gets Married. The novel was published by Dial Press, a division of Random House, Inc. in 2004. Emma Corrigan is an average young woman living in London, England, trying to climb the corporate ladder at Panther Cola. She's a marketing assistant, but she longs for a promotion to marketing executive so she can show her family, especially her ambitious cousin Kerry, that she can succeed. She is offered the opportunity to be a representative of Panther Cola in a deal in Glasgow. She accepts the offer hoping it will help her get a promotion. The deal is rejected and ultimately ends in total disaster. Later, Emma boards the plane and drowns her sorrows. Halfway through the flight home, the plane's turbulence hits. Emma, drunk, believes she will die and reveals all her secrets to a stranger, who is a surprisingly good listener. Afterwards, passengers are reassured that the plane is fine. Full of embarrassment, she convinces herself that she will never again meet the stranger who knows everything about her. When Emma returns to work, a terrible surprise awaits her. The man who knows... middle of paper... friend Jack. Emma's wish to change her life had finally been granted. The novel is a typical teen novel with a style of quirky humor and undeniably adorable romance. Although it is aimed at young women and teenagers, males and people of all ages would also enjoy it. It's at a lower reading level and easy to read, so not much inference is needed. The climax is interesting, has a good moral of being open with others and the plot is unique. The book contains a lot of suspense. Plus, it's hard to stop once you start. If you're looking for a light, happy, feel-good novel to read to pass your free time, I recommend picking this one up. In conclusion, Can You Keep a Secret?, it was a fun book that lifted my spirits and made me feel good. smile repeatedly. It was a little too easy for my taste, but overall I enjoyed reading it for the record of the book.
