November 27th was an important date: the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union and the Social Democratic Party announced the agreement on the joint formation of the government. However, the pact still needs to be voted on by SDP members. The possibility of Germany facing another grand coalition has sparked much discussion. Experts and ordinary people had many questions about this decision. What was clear is that both parties would take into account the lessons of the 2005 grand coalition. For example, the SDU announced that it will be more persistent and try to follow its program. The first thing that is important to mention is the inevitability of disagreements. The negotiations have already produced some harsh conflicts between the parties. It is obvious that in the future almost every issue will provoke heated discussions as both “subcultures” (Lijphart, 1969) will defend their interests.
