Leonardo Da Vinci could be considered one of the most famous people of the Renaissance era and one of the greatest painters who ever lived. Leonardo was talented and made many contributions throughout his life. He did many things such as painting, anatomy, mechanics and architecture. And it's one of the reasons why the Renaissance era can be considered one of the greatest periods in history. Leonardo was born on 15 April 1452, he was the son of Ser Piero and Caterina. Leonardo's father was a landowner and his mother was a farmer and both were unmarried at the time. Leonardo lived with his father and had an education. Subsequently the father moved with the family to Florence (Heydenreich). At the age of 15 Leonardo demonstrated that he was a great painter. In 1467 he became a pupil of Andrea Del Verrochio, a very well-known artist in that period. He joined Verrochio's workshop where he received training in the most varied fields. (George). In another workshop of Antonio Pollaiuolo, Leonardo studied anatomy and animals. He was accepted into the painters' guild of Florence. One of Leonardo's earliest works was a painting of an angel for the Baptism of Christ artwork. After Verrochio saw the artwork, he thought it was time for Leonardo to move on and do other things. Leonardo subsequently became an independent painter and later moved to Milan where he worked for Ludovico Sforza. During that time Leonardo created one of his most famous works, The Last Supper. Later in his career he became a journalist where he wrote down his observations and findings. His notes showed that he knew how rocks were formed. He was also fascinated by fossils and how they built tunnels through mountains. (Weingardt). Years... half the page... centuries later. Leonardo Da Vici was a great thinker and was way ahead of his time in what he did and if it wasn't for some of the things he did then we as a civilization wouldn't have some of the things we have now. His works have greatly influenced today's world and changed the way people do things. Work cited Ludwig Heinrich, Heydenreich. "Leonardo Da Vinci." Biographies of Britannica (2012): 1.
