Successful organizations have strong leaders and managers who develop, support and encourage employee longevity within a company. There is a significant difference between leadership and management, however both skills must be used collectively and both are important to a profitable organization. Leadership is the concept of communicating an organization's vision, while management is more about implementing the organization's vision. The manager typically carries out the responsibilities set by the organization and has a good team by his side to carry out the tasks and achieve the objectives. Most companies have a mission that reflects and supports the company vision. When referring to leadership and management, the two are closely linked but both intend and cover different tasks and responsibilities. Leadership: A leader is a person who guides or inspires others within an organization or community to achieve a goal. Leadership is mostly based on less tangible things such as confidence, inspiration, attitude, decision making and personal character (Chapman). A good leader takes full responsibility for their team by incorporating their own experiences and skills and developing through coaching, facilitation and creating environments that support the organization's focus. Leaders are role models who lead by example and realize that they may need to put their feelings aside to make a decision that is beneficial to the organization and its team. Leadership is the ability to remove institutional obstacles and empower employees.
