Millions of people around the world immigrate to different countries every year. For some people, moving to a new place can mean taking on a different career opportunity, following a love interest, or reuniting with family. While for others immigration is necessary to survive. It is not a simple choice, but rather a struggle to escape the horrors of one's country. There are numerous nations that welcome immigrants and refugees with open arms, but many do not. Picking up your life and traveling to a new country is difficult even in the most accepting places. For example, the United States has a variety of cultures and people from all over the world, making it one of the most desirable places for immigrants. Yet despite this, Americans can be unwelcoming and rude to strangers. One of the largest immigrant populations is found in France, with approximately 7.4 million foreign-born people living there in 2010. Despite this large number, French culture is one of the most nationalistic in the world, which can sometimes seem hostile to French culture. new arrivals. The history and development of French migration policies are full of stubbornness and errors. Even now, the country's reluctance to allow new cultures to flourish in their country is becoming a major problem for the masses of immigrants residing in France. The immigration craze for the French began soon after World War II. The country was short of manpower and needed to rebuild after the destruction of the battles. Therefore, they have opened their doors to many people from other parts of Europe, Africa and Latin America. In the following decades, other wars around the world followed, such as the Vietnam War and the Algerian War, which made France a sanctuary for refugees. I have......middle of paper......r of superiority and resentment. Obviously you can't judge every Frenchman based on this common feeling, as everyone is different, but it is certainly an important dilemma that the French are facing. It is my opinion that their ethnocentrism will ultimately be their downfall if they don't change soon. France is currently the largest tourist destination in the world and this tourism industry contributes greatly to their economy and GDP. However, if they continue to treat foreigners with such disdain, this will surely decline and their economy will suffer. It is ironic that the French are so against foreigners in their country, yet at the same time rely on them to survive and prosper. In the following decades, I hope that there will be a change in politics and attitudes in France, and that one day they will learn to welcome immigrants and their cultures.
