Topic > Money: The Root of All Evil and Modern Problems

In high school, my English teacher asked the class an interesting question: "What is the biggest problem in the world today?" The question seemed easy until many ideas came to mind, such as world hunger, global warming, corrupt politics, threats of war, unemployment rates, and even natural disasters. The actual answer was simply one word: “money.” Many problems explain the “money” answer, such as unequal distribution of wealth, inadequate government regulation of spending, or excessive printing of paper money, but the most profound one I encountered after moving to Davis concerns inflation . Whether you are a full-time student with a fixed amount of money or a part-time worker with a small source of income, the unreasonably high prices of items here in Davis will wipe out your savings in no time. In the off-campus stores around Davis, major problems exist in ensuring efficient customer satisfaction because the desire for profit rules the stores. Lowering the prices of items and being more concerned about customer satisfaction in stores around Davis are urgent needs because many students are not only struggling financially, but also looking for enjoyable and rewarding shopping experiences. Truth be told, the main factor that leads to customer dissatisfaction is the loss of their money. Davis sells high-quality products, but overcharges us, sometimes to the point that the stores seem scandalous, compared to those in other cities, such as San Francisco. Davis sells meticulously prepared food and well-packaged accessories, but in most cases, no matter how delicious or durable the items are, the products still aren't worth the money we pay for them. A decent meal or groceries... middle of paper... sold in larger quantities, and the company will maintain sufficient sales flow. As a result, companies will have a positive light and gain popularity among the public. They will be known to meet needs. The consequences for the future are quite surprising. In conclusion, the overly expensive food and items here in Davis limit students' freedom in their diet and lifestyle, which affects their mindset. Many students take out large loans or come from low-income families with limited financial flexibility. Instead of allowing students to express themselves, high prices characterize them by forcing them to purchase the cheapest but unsatisfactory items. High prices not only negatively impact initially planned expenses, but shatter their desired lifestyle and ruin their college experiences.
