Khedive Ismail Ibrahim Muhammed Ali I decided to do some research on Khedive Ismail because it will be a great opportunity for me to know more about the history of my country which I know something about. It is not strictly related to my project. The idea of building a National Library in Cairo was ordered by Khedive Ismail with the contribution of Ali Pasha Mubarak. Muhammad Ali arrived soon after the weakening of the Mamluks. They came from the Ottoman Empire which is Turkey. Khedive Ismail was born in Al Musafir Khana Palace in Cairo. He was the second of three sons of Ibrahim Pasha, grandson of the Albanian general Muhammad Ali, founder of the Egyptian royal dynasty. He was the son of Hoshiar, the third wife of Ibrahim Pasha. She was reportedly a sister of Valide Sultan Pertevniyal (1812–1883). Pertevniyal was a wife of Mahmud II of the Ottoman Empire and mother of Abdülaziz I. She was born on December 31, 1830 and died on March 2, 1895 in Istanbul (wikipedia). He studied in Paris and went on a diplomatic mission to Europe before ruling. He went to Constantinople and there received the title of Pasha (Larousse). Initially he was a member of the Egyptian Council of State, then he became the leader of 14,000 men with the title of General in Chief of the Egyptian Army. In 1855 he was commissioner of France and of the Pope of Rome (The New York Times 1895). On his way back to Egypt, he became a member of the Council of State and was entrusted with the government while Said Pasha was visiting Asia and Europe in 1861 (Larousse). After Said Pasha's death in 1863, Ismail became the unopposed Wali. He was Wali until 1867 and Khedive from 1867 to 1879 (The New York Times 1895).
