Throughout the history of humanity, each person has contributed to their society and to the progress of human civilization in general, through a specific profession. Each type of job, or career, requires specific knowledge and skills. One career path that people choose to follow is that of an engineer. There are many types of engineering fields to pursue, such as aerospace engineering and agricultural engineering. Another engineering profession that has recently risen to prominence is civil engineering. Unlike most professional fields, engineers create physical products and offer tangible services. Without infrastructure, nations would fall apart economically and transportation-related services would be negatively impacted. Individuals in the field of civil engineering oversee the construction of a company's foundation and, in most cases, introduce new inventions, innovations, and methods. Civil engineers not only design infrastructure, but they also design ways to connect people of all cultures. As a civil engineer, one must focus primarily on the design and construction of transportation-based structures such as bridges, roads, highways, airports, and tunnels. Specifically, they focus on how to "plan and design transportation or plumbing systems and structures, following construction and government standards, using design software and drafting tools" (www.job-descriptions.careerplanner.com). To ensure the reliability of completed projects is up to par, civil engineers must take into account environmental factors such as weather conditions and apply their knowledge of geothermal physics. This career also requires people to have a solid understanding of chemistry, as the various materials used for construction each have their own unique… medium of paper… nnel and various other marvels of modern engineering have demonstrated, engineers Civilians assist and connect the nations and cultures of the world, regardless of the obstacle.
