Topic > Illegal Immigration Infestation in the United States

This year in the United States, thousands of undocumented illegal immigrants have entered the United States. “The argument against undocumented immigration is that local, state, and federal governments are burdened with increasing costs through the use of educational and social systems such as K-12 education, health care programs, emergency rooms, welfare and other anti-poverty programs for which they do not contribute through taxes (Beccera).” Financially strained social service funds are spent on illegal immigrants, overcrowded schools are filled with undocumented children, and illegal immigrants hold most of the low-wage jobs. Something needs to be done to remedy these problems in Texas. Billions of taxpayer dollars, my taxes that I work fifty hours a week for are spent on the same illegal immigrants that I work fifty hours a week to apprehend and prevent entry. the United States. If Texas wants to waste taxpayer money, it must waste it on programs that benefit those who pay taxes. SNAP, WIC and Medicaid are social services that are there to help those in need. An excellent example of the correct use of social services is that of a mother who loses her job and is unable to provide food for her family. WIC and SNAP can supplement a mother's income to purchase groceries to feed her family. The loss of health insurance can be supplemented by Medicaid. Social services are meant to be a temporary solution to get families back on their feet. Illegal immigrants are settling in the United States and using social services as a means to live instead of climbing out of poverty. Texas needs to change this, and by change I mean Texas needs to develop some fortitude and... middle of paper... immigration. We don't care about the amount of revenue generated; we worry about how illegal immigration is sucking the life out of work. Without the availability of low-wage jobs, unskilled workers are unable to work, provide for their families and are left to collect unemployment. While the revenue generated by illegal immigrants helps support the coffers of federal, state and local governments. The overall costs associated with illegal immigrants and the negative impact they have on social services, education and unemployment are harmful to our economy. If Texas does not take a stand against illegal immigration, illegal immigration will eventually drain the Texas economy.
