As a marketing major, understanding people is an important skill for marketers to obtain. Marketing deals significantly with different types of people around the world. Not everyone in the world is the same, the liberal arts offer courses that help open the minds of the public and make them aware of the different environment in which they find themselves. Attending a Liberal Arts College like Quincy University offers the opportunity to see things from a different perspective and can promote open-mindedness. Ethics is an area of ​​study that deals with ideas about what is good and bad behavior (Webster's Dictionary). Making it an important course to take to gain morals for the business world. Gaining knowledge about different people is important for a business major. Taking general liberal arts courses such as sociology and psychology is vital when pursuing a marketing degree. Used to living in the busy city of Chicago, it has been interesting to live in different parts of the country and learn about different lifestyles. Attending community college in a Chicago suburb provided the opportunity to meet different people. Not just people from the city of Chicago, but people from the Chicago area as a whole. It was interesting to discover how their lives growing up in a suburb were different from mine. Moving to New York and living twenty minutes from the city was a huge cultural shift. Attending only one semester in New York, it was exciting to meet people from all over the country. After living in New York, interest in a business major grew. By taking a couple of liberal arts courses, such as economics and philosophy, the curiosity to meet different people grew. After injuring my knee playing soccer and not being able to play anymore, I was forced to look for another school closer to Chicago. Considering a business major, moving to Quincy was a wise choice for several reasons. One reason is that Quincy is a rural area and he is curious about how people live in this city. Being used to living in big cities and living in Quincy was challenging at first.
