Parental censorship, does it make children more curious? “I can't define pornography,” U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart once said, “but I know it when I see it.” (“I Know It When I See It.”). The word "pornography" comes from the Greek language for writing about prostitutes. However, the etymology of the term is no guide to its current usage as many of the things commonly called "pornography" nowadays are neither written about nor about such prostitutes. Pornography is any sexually explicit material (images or words). People want to censor pornography to prevent any curious person under the age of 18 from seeking out 18+ material. The question at hand is whether parental censorship stops curious people or actually makes them want to seek it out more and can sometimes lead to worse situations which in any case will push the community to try to get more censorship on the Internet, radio, television and any other type of media. Censorship is the control of information and ideas circulated within a society, this has been a hallmark of dictatorships throughout history. In the 20th century, censorship was achieved through the examination of books, plays, films, television and radio programs, news broadcasts, and other forms of communication for the purpose of altering or suppressing ideas deemed objectionable or offensive. The motivations behind censorship have varied, with some censors targeting material deemed indecent or obscene; heretical or blasphemous; or seditious or traitor. Therefore, ideas were suppressed under the guise of protecting three basic social institutions: the family, the church and the state. Not all censorship is the same... middle of the paper... like maids or babysitters or hiding the truth from them for as long as possible so they don't have to deal with these things until their kids are old enough to understand it better , so it will be easier for them. Now, there are many ways to censor parts of the Internet from children by downloading some software that keeps them away from the site or you can set a different access for them that does not give them access to certain places without administrative permission, i.e. your permission, or you could sit there alone and monitor their progress and teach them everything so that they don't do what you don't want them to do, but since no child wants to be monitored on the computer doing what they want, i.e. looking for games on the Internet, watching cartoons animated or whatever else they may or may not do there.
