Then, Satanism is misunderstood for many reasons, including: the way the media portrays it, false reports of satanic ritual abuse, and people claiming the status of Satanism without knowing what exactly Satanism is. Satanism. There have been numerous reports in which the media exaggerates some cases. For example in Hammond, Louisiana, there was a man named Pastor Louis Lamonica Jr. He was the pastor of the local church in town, he was also a psychopath and a rapist. The media claimed that the man was a Satanist because he raped children in a church when in reality he thought that was what God wanted from him. The pastor was not alone in these horrific crimes, including his accomplices, his wife Robin, Austin Trey Bernard, and Austin's wife, Nicole Bernard. The group has raped numerous children and allegedly slaughtered animals in the name of Satan, however there is no evidence to show this ever occurred. The only reason the case was misinterpreted as a case of satanic ritual abuse is that Lammonica described the youth room where they committed terrible crimes as black, and as everyone knows, the Church of Satan runs away from the Black House. This case was so publicized that an episode of HBO's True Detective was even made. Of course, in the show it was much more gruesome and demonic than the actual event which did not involve the devil or Satanism in any form. He was just an average psychotic pastor who will spend the rest of his years in prison, which is far from invisible within the Church of God. Another example of how the media exaggerates Satanism and turns it into a cult is the incident of Johannesburg, South Africa, where a girl was killed. The victim was only seventeen years old and was killed by his classmates. The... middle of paper... kill a tiger in the graveyard; The Kellers had killed a man with a chainsaw. All the children also admitted to having been abused by their parents. All of these reports were clearly obscene and did not occur, however, the Kellers were tried and imprisoned until 2012, when the therapist denied that the Kellers actually did any of the things they were arrested for. The therapist had to have a horrible time living with the fact that he had just ruined the lives of two people and their children, it's about time like this that the death penalty should be reinstated. After being released, the Kellers separated and are trying to live their lives to the best of their ability, however, they will always remember how they were falsely accused and had to spend 21 years in prison. This has to be the worst case of satanic ritual abuse ever to occur in the history of Satanism.
