IntroductionAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or as referred to as ADHD is a neurobehavioral disorder among children and adolescents. The symptoms of the disorder may vary from person to person, but one symptom that most children with ADHD see is the ability to attract attention and the loss of the opportunity to save and retrieve information, indicates that these children suffer from a deficit of memory. Most research and studies conducted on this disorder previously focused on visual memory, but not many studies have been conducted on iconic memory, which is the register of visual sensory memory pertaining to the visual domain and a store of visual information in rapid decay. Iconic memory, found in the prefrontal cortex of the brain, has the function of allowing the brain to recall an image that is subsequently displayed. Iconic memory is also considered the primary stage of memory and consists of visible persistence and informational persistence. There is no clear link to which parts of ADHD children's memory are affected, but there is a strong link between iconic memory and ADHDers' inability to attract attention. The study tested iconic memory in children with ADHD and compared it to normal children without ADHD to determine whether children with ADHD have a functioning iconic memory or not. Furthermore, comparing the results would help in future studies to understand whether iconic memory is the main reason why children with ADHD fail to attract attention, and this could be a starting point for improving ADHD treatment if Indeed, iconic memory is a factor in the inattention of children with ADHD. Methods The study subject were children aged 6–9 years selected from the 1st and 2nd grades of Yazd educational district, southeast Iran. The... middle of paper... Like parental pressure to have the perfect child, so the mother starts taking over-the-counter pills to improve some of the child's characteristics? Or couldn't a bad diet during pregnancy be causing ADHD? I have so many questions I could think of, but I still feel that ADHD should be brought to our attention more and more, as doctors are prescribing medications to children suffering from this disease. I'm not a big fan of drugs and a big believer in the right mind in the right body, so I wondered what would happen if these kids got involved in physical activities to help them be more active. The study showed that these children with ADHD have memory impairments and this causes their inattention or disability to perform well on iconic memory tests, but the study failed to address risk factors or parental history , the nature or role of culture in causing this disability.
