Criminology has always been a real mystery. Understanding why people commit crimes is a major component of studying criminology. Do most criminals act rationally after evaluating the costs of their crime? Is it ever the fault of the environment or the community if an individual commits a crime? Do mental illnesses or even biological defects affect whether a person can continue to live a life of crime? Over the past two hundred years, many scientists have developed explanations to try to answer these questions. Indeed, the number of explanations for why people commit crimes sometimes seems equal to the number of criminologists. I will explore these questions and more on the topic of criminology in the following article. Personally, I am passionate about the topic of criminology because I grew up with people who committed crimes, most of which were not very serious, but I saw the advantages that the law offers. law enforcement has on a community and all the good it can do that's why I decided to pursue a career in law enforcement and that's what I'm majoring in here at North Georgia Technical College and as I pursue a career not just for me but for anyone who enters criminal law it is important to understand how the criminal mind works. I personally didn't grow up in a family or with any relationship or connection to law enforcement people, but it always struck my interest and I ultimately decided that was what I wanted to do with my life. I think I finally decided to do it when I was in my last two years of high school, which isn't that long ago. “The foundation of classical criminology is the central belief that individual criminals engage in rational decision making in choosing how to commit crimes… middle of paper…and commit such horrific crimes or initiate criminal activity. We, as natural human beings, we are all capable of engaging in delinquent behavior. What gets in the way of a human being producing it? What drives people to engage in deviant behavior or choose not to commit any crime? some human beings make decisive choices like these every day. Many philosophers and scientists have looked frantically and dug deep into the criminal law system and the delinquent ways of criminals using different explanations to explain delinquent behavior. With these theories they have been able to develop multiple different theories that explained different views on why people decided to commit crimes. Crime will never truly be fully understood, no matter how much we study and research. In the end, criminology will still remain a mystery.
